I’m not sure if I am abusing my blog privileges or if I’m merely neglectful.
It’s funny that I started a blog in order to help me manage those intermittent and overwhelming urges to write, but then rarely even make an appearance here. There’s the Fridays with Frost posts: I do enjoy doing that (when I can remember that its Friday), but hardly original. I’m not entirely sure when I got so completely distracted or whatever it is.
I suppose that the least I can do at this point is
show off share the projects that I completed during the holidays.
The cabled wristlets and headbands that I made for my youngest step-daughter.
The hat and mittens that I made for my grandson.
Pattern links are as follows (these are all on Ravelry and may require login):
The mittens were a basic knit mitten and embellished by me, based on what I learned from the hat pattern.
So that’s one of the many things that I’ve been up to lately, more sharing to come later.
Just because I can…
…and so that my grand daughter (4) doesn’t feel left out…
She told me today (about the new baby): “I need to hug him!”
Me: “You can hug him.”
K: “Yay!!! Yay!!!”
Me: “You have to be easy because he’s just a little baby.”
K: “I careful. Easy, easy, easy. ‘Cause he’s little.”
I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Maybe I’ll remember to get pictures of my hike tomorrow, since I completely forgot to take my camera to the park with the grand daughter. Blah!
First, my apologies for missing the regular Friday post, but I do have a decent excuse. Besides the fact that this last month has been super busy (OT at work, NatCroMo projects, keeping up with the hubby’s band schedule, oh yeah, and that kid I still have at home sometimes), I was also graced this last weekend with a new grandson. Yay!!!
Second, gratuitous baby pic, cause you know you want to see…
Third…it’s camp time…no silly it’s too cold still for real camping. It’s time for the 2013 CampNaNoWriMo! Which I will be joining, so if once again I seem to fall off the face of the earth, know that I am really just one story line away, and I shall return. 🙂
Hope everyone had a great weekend, and a wonderful holiday!

So the mittens that I made were so cute. I don’t have a really good photo with both of them, but somewhere I have a photo with the baby trying one on. 🙂
Now that the holiday frenzy is over I was trying to work on my unfinished projects, but the yarn Alpaca With A Twist
that I ordered from Sophie’s Fine Yarn Shoppe came in last week, and instead I have started on a wedding shawl (Wedding Shawl). Woohoo! I’m really excited about this one. Its my first lace shawl, and I’m already 24 rows in. More updates later, and hopefully I’ll have some pics coming soon. I have them, just don’t have them loaded on a computer that I can use for internet right now.
Happy Knitting 😀
Busy, busy. I haven’t had much time the last few weeks, but I just wanted to post an update. I recovered from my “stall out” and was back in the swing pretty quickly. I finished the Baby Yeti sweater, and the bonnet that I was working on.
I didn’t finish NaNo, but I had a great time doing it and will definitely try to be more prepared for it next year. I don’t feel too bad about my stats though. I finished with just over 25,000 words. Only half of the requirement, but not too shabby for a first timer. Next year, I’ll try to have more of my Christmas knitting done earlier so that I won’t feel the pressure of having so many things going, and maybe I’ll be better able to stick to the daily word goal. It was unfortunate that this year MIL’s cancer returned, and some of my “lost” time was spent at the hospital. But those are things that we can’t plan for, and I know that I’ll be looking forward to next years NaNoWriMo all the same.
Moreover, I have started and finished two scarves and I’m moving on to mittens for the grand baby. Wish me luck on that one! 😉 I’ve never done mittens before, so I’m hoping I can manage that thumb.
Pictures coming soon. (I forgot to get pics of one of the scarves & I don’t know if I can get it now, but I’ve got all the others.)
Happy Holidays!!! 🙂
This seems to be my time to run out of steam. I stalled out on the Baby Yeti due to uncertainty. Then I needed a new project to take to the hospital with me last week for MIL’s surgery, so I started on a Baby Bonnet. It will be too cute when its done 😉
So Baby Yeti is on hold, although I really only have about 10 ro 15 rows and a little sewing to do. I’m just afraid to get back to it and not have enough yarn to finish. I know, I am “ridiculous”, as a co-worker so kindly put it this morning.
Meanwhile, I have also stalled out on the NaNoWriMo. I fell behind last week, and I almost caught up by Sunday with a 23,000+ word count, however, I’ve had no time at all to work on it this week. Maybe I’ll catch up again on the weekend. Interestingly, I have not lost interest in the story, so I still feel hopeful that I’ll catch up.
Next year though, I think I’ll try to remember this experience and get some of the Xmas knitting done early so I can have more time to dedicate to NaNo. Oh, and a laptop would help, but I’m not really sure how much. All I know is that I don’t have access to one since my poor, grounded kid, ruined the SO’s.
Ah well, C’est la vie, n’est pas?
Hope everyone’s Nano writing is going well, and happy knitting. 😀
My newest project Baby Yeti. Too cute isn’t it. I started it last weekend, and I’m hoping to finish pretty quickly. I bought the pink & black plush on sale at my LYS (they’re moving & I got a great deal). I was really excited to find it on sale. I wanted purple, but for half price, who cares? 😛
I’ve finished the back & I’m about halfway through the front. Wish me luck on progress.
Have a good weekend all! 😀
