Fridays with Frost #9

A Minor Bird

I have wished a bird would fly away,
And not sing by my house all day;

Have clapped my hands at him from the door
When it seemed as if I could bear no more.

The fault must partly have been in me.
The bird was not to blame for his key.
And of course there must be something wrong
In wanting to silence any song.

Robert Frost

Happy Weekend!!! 🙂

  1. this is a most lovely poem …

    At first I was somewhat perplexed by Mr. Frost’s wish for the quieting of birdsong … but he redeems himself well at the end.

    (I like that you do these Fridays with Frost poems … thank you.)

  2. …and Thank You for reading. Frost has always been one of my favorite poets. I’m glad that you enjoy it.
