I did it. After three failed November stories (although at least two of those I produced 30,000 words and did not feel like a failure), I have finally won NaNo. August Camp was a success for me. My final word count today was 50,171 words validated. And here it is, my first ever winner’s badge. What a great feeling.
I still can’t believe that I did it!!
Now all I have to do is actually finish the novel. Then it’s off to editing, maybe. Or maybe I’ll start on my November outline first. IDK. Hope everyone else is having as great a time as I have each year, and learning as much as I have as well. Happy Writing!! 🙂

A Patch of Old Snow
There’s a patch of old snow in a corner
That I should have guessed
Was a blow-away paper the rain
Had brought to rest.
It is speckled with grime as if
Small print overspread it,
The news of a day I’ve forgotten —
If I ever read it.
Beautifully put as always, thank you Robert Frost.
Meanwhile; CampNaNoWriMo word count is currently 40,943. Did not get to write at all for the last two days, but I’m still a day ahead. The weekend should put me pretty near that 50k goal!
I have been remiss with this poor little blog of late, but my word count for Camp NaNo has reached 23,861. Pretty good as I am on target, but had to do some serious catching up over this last weekend.
Wish me luck completing. I feel pretty good about my story still, so that is a good sign.
Woohoo! I’m up to 4452 words for my Camp novel. Okay, so that’s about 4ooo behind where I should be, but considering how little time I’ve had for writing, I feel pretty good about it.
I’m not doing as well on the WIPs wrestling, but I’ve had a super busy weekend. More info on that later.
Who else is doing camp at NaNoWriMo?
Happy knitting/writing! 🙂
A Late Walk
When I go up through the mowing field,
The headless aftermath,
Smooth-laid like thatch with the heavy dew,
Half closes the garden path.
And when I come to the garden ground,
The whir of sober birds
Up from the tangle of withered weeds
Is sadder than any words
A tree beside the wall stands bare,
But a leaf that lingered brown,
Disturbed, I doubt not, by my thought,
Comes softly rattling down.
I end not far from my going forth
By picking the faded blue
Of the last remaining aster flower
To carry again to you.
Gotta love some Frost.
Meanwhile, my CampNaNo novel has reached a whopping 902 words. Okay, yeah, I’m a little behind. Also I’m still working on wrestling that WIP for the Ravellenic Games.
This weekend will be a challenge though, with all of this, plus a 4 hour class at a state park (2 hours away) on Saturday and my son’s 18th birthday party on Sunday.
